New Community Center
at Playa Vista
Pools and a 2-story Gym coming to Playa Vista
Starting in 2013, construction will begin for the Community Center for the second phase of Playa Vista.

The hub of Playa Vista's Phase 2 residential community will be the new Community Center designed by Rios Clementi Hale Studios.
It is a 25,000 square foot structure located between Millennium and Runway Roads, adjacent to McConnell Avenue. The center will primarily be a private facility serving the residents of Playa Vista.
Organized around two interior courtyards, the building is separated by a diagonal lobby that extends through the building from north to south, and connects the drop-off court to the northern edge of the site.
A large reception desk separates pre-function space and the Meeting Center from the main lobby. A sliding glass wall between the pre-function space and one of the courtyards creates indoor/outdoor event space.
A major element of the building is a two-level gym and fitness center.
Glass walls will slide open to create an indoor/outdoor environment and allow for an all natural ventilation system. The project will achieve a LEED Platinum rating.
The large pool area includes a six-lane junior Olympic pool, an adult pool, a children’s wading pool, and a spa.

Family and private cabanas are located along the southern edge of the site and correspond to type of pool.
Directly adjacent to the new center will be a new public park.
The park maintains sightlines and pedestrian path trajectories that connect the new center with existing elements of Playa Vista and the new Runway development to the east.
